A pause is a brief waiting or hesitation. Sometimes forced, sometimes overlooked, sometimes intentional, pauses create a necessary rhythm to the structure of our lives. The pause is a space for breath, a space for others to join a conversation, and a space for reflection and processing. Small moments of pause can create an awareness of self that is not often indulged in a culture in which an ever present to do list often reigns supreme in our thoughts.
When we are at our best a pause can create moments of joy and reflection.
At our worst a pause brings out impatience and narcissism.
In this project I focus on a pause represented as anything unusual or out of the ordinary in our daily lives that directs our attention and gives us a momentary pause, allowing for a brief period of contemplation or consideration.
